I could write a really long boring introduction to my and my life but I’ll try not to do that, so here’s a little bit about me…
My name is Wendy and I’m just an ‘average Joe’ living happily with my husband and my Miniature Schnauzer fur baby Dusty who is a beautiful. I’m a marketing professional with a burning passion for travel and baking.
Let’s go back… way back…
When I was at school I was a complete home bird living in the country with big dreams of becoming an animator for Disney or a Hollywood movie star. I wasn’t particularly keen on school and was pretty average and went on to study Performing Arts at College (singing and swirling my way to a distinction) then packed myself off to university (cue more singing and swirling stage left) and graduated in 2003 with a 2:1 BA Honours Performing Arts degree.
I soon realised my dreams of becoming a big-time film star were unlikely so thought I’d do some more studying (great!). So I signed up to a year long PGCE in Education and Teacher Training course and got offered a job teaching drama, but something just didn’t quite feel right. I needed some time out to decide what I wanted to be when I grew up.
So following an audition in London (think X Factor on a much smaller scale) where I belted out “Ooom Pa Pa” from Oliver and believing I was actually Nancy (complete with skirt swishing and everything) I packed my bags once again and began working with Thomson Holiday’s as a Superfamily Entertainer and went by the name of Wacky Wendy in Mallorca. I met my now husband and 4 years later craved some ‘normality’ and a taste of the 9-5.
So what happened next? I hear you cry!
Well, since starting my marketing role back in 2008 I’ve developed a growing interest in digital marketing and get excited by geeking out about how marketing is constantly changing, year on year. I love checking out the latest social media networks, reading about the latest algorithms and talking with other marketing professionals.
In 2016 I went ‘back to school’ (glutton for punishment) and completed a Certificate in Professional Marketing with the Chartered Institute of Marketing. As if that wasn’t enough, in order to further challenge myself and combine my new marketing knowledge with all the things I love (digital marketing, travel, baking, my dog, natural skin care products, being happy, running and more), I decided to create this website/blog which I hope people will find useful and interesting.
This is the result so please take a look ‘Inside Wendy’s World’.
